Bus Safety at McKee School

Riding the school bus is a privilege, not a right. Acording to Edmonton Public Schools' Administrative Regulation HH.AR – Student Transportation, students may be suspended from bus service if their behaviour is unsafe or inappropriate. This means continued access to the bus depends on following expectations and contributing to a safe environment for all.

School Bus Expectations

Student Expectations

  • Stay seated while the bus is moving
  • Use quiet, respectful voices

  • Keep hands, feet, and belongings to yourself

  • Follow the driver’s instructions

  • No food, drink, or dangerous items

If Expectations Aren’t Met

We use a fair, step-by-step approach:

  1. Reminder and reteaching

  2. Parent contact

  3. Bus suspension (2–5 days) for repeated or serious issues

  4. Loss of bus privileges for ongoing unsafe behaviour

Determining Eligibility for School Bus

Eligibility for yellow bus service is determined by where a student lives. Find your designated school by entering your home address into the Find a School tool. View the detailed map on any school page to see yellow bus services.

Students who are enrolled in their designated school and live:

  • within the walk boundary (usually about 1km) are not eligible for yellow bus service
  • outside of the walk boundary may be eligible for service
